Chania, West Crete, Greece … A walk through 5,000 years of history with Dr. Alexandra Ariotti, resident archaeologist and historian.
Chania Old Town Walks offers an original way to explore this historically fascinating and unique city through a private 3 hour walking tour. You’ll be accompanied by an expert who is familiar with Chania’s complex history; its monuments, buildings, alleyways and hidden gems. The city’s past from Minoan times through to the Ottoman Turkish period comes alive though informative and entertaining anecdotes as we walk around Kastelli with its Minoan ruins, Topanas with its elegant Venetian townhouses, villas and palazzos, the old Jewish neighborhood of Evraiki with its beautifully restored synagogue, and Splantzia where you’ll discover grand Turkish houses, mosques, small churches and narrow, winding alleys. This is a walk suitable for all ages that allows us to imagine what Chania (Khania, Hania, Xania, Canea) was really like in antiquity.
